Gianna is a great therapist for my first time. She was very understanding when I began to break down mid session. Also I appreciate that she adjusted when I became uncomfortable talking about certain things and didn't pry that much

    About Gianna Yu, RPsy

Hi! My name is Gianna, and I pursued a career in psychology because I deeply believe in the importance of mental health. No one should have to face life's challenges alone. Sometimes, what we need most is a safe space and a compassionate, nonjudgmental listener to help us make sense of our thoughts and emotions. Just as we care for our physical health by visiting a doctor, I believe we should give the same attention and care to our mental well-being. My biggest motivation for helping others through counseling comes from seeing how powerful simply being present can be. Feeling heard, understood, and supported can make a meaningful difference. I strive to be a psychologist who empowers clients โ€” someone who gently supports them as they work toward their personal goals and become the best versions of themselves. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my dogs and trying out new restaurants with friends. I'm a big foodie, and I have a soft spot for all things cute and sweet. These simple joys help me recharge and bring a sense of balance and calm into my life. In my work, I aim to create a warm and safe space where clients feel comfortable sharing openly and honestly. My goal is never to "fix" anyone, but to walk alongside them as they grow, gain insight, and build the tools they need to navigate life with greater confidence and clarity. Seeking help is a brave step, and I consider it a privilege to be part of that journey.

    My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is best described as a collaborative partnership. I believe therapy is most effective when it feels like teamwork โ€” where we work together toward understanding, growth, and change. I see clients as the experts of their own experiences, and my role is not to dictate solutions, but to help make sense of their stories. Together, we explore patterns and identify ways to move forward that feel meaningful and realistic. I strive to make our sessions feel more like open, genuine conversations rather than rigid or overly structured therapy sessions. While I bring clinical knowledge and guidance into the space, I value authenticity, flexibility, and meeting clients where they are. I believe that meaningful change often happens when people feel comfortable enough to speak freely and honestly. Empathy and non-judgmental listening are at the core of my practice. I understand how vulnerable it can be to open up about one's thoughts, emotions, and experiences, and my priority is always to create a safe, respectful space for sharing. My goal as a psychologist is to walk alongside my clients as they navigate their challenges, offering support and understanding so they never feel alone in the process.
