    About Dr. Meriel June Mortola

I'm Meriel June Mortola, a psychiatrist. What drew me to psychiatry is the understanding that not all wounds are visible. Many people carry illnesses rooted in hidden scars from trauma and adverse experiences, which can deeply affect their emotional, mental, and even physical well-being. I believe that by helping patients address and process these invisible wounds, they can move toward true and holistic healing. Seeing individuals recover, rebuild their relationships, and regain their sense of purpose continues to inspire and motivate me in my practice.

    My Approach to Psychiatric Care

I believe psychiatric care should be a collaborative partnership. Understanding each patient's goals, values, and motivations is essential in working toward a shared vision for recovery. I incorporate psychoeducation into every treatment plan to empower patients to make informed decisions about their care. I also recognize the important role spirituality can play in healing. While I never impose it, I am glad to integrate spiritual considerations for patients who find it meaningful. My approach is compassionate and individualized, with a focus not only on managing symptoms but also on helping people build more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
